Seasons of Love was animated in Flash, colored in Photoshop, and composited in After Effects. All backgrounds were painted with acrylic on canvas paper and color corrected and composited in Photoshop.
With roughly 5 months spent in development, production began in September 2008 and ended in July 2009. Within that period, rough animation took 5 months to complete, clean up animation 2 months, and color and backgrounds 4 months. After a few final edits and last minute changes, Seasons of Love was officially completed in September 2009.
